Attendees of the UNSW Allens Hub Data Justice Writing Retreat

UNSW Allens Hub Data Justice Writing Retreat

In September, the UNSW Allens Hub Data Justice Research Stream brought together researchers in the late stages of their PhD journeys or early stages of post-docs for a 3-day, 3-night writing retreat. The interdisciplinary group of researchers have a shared interest in issues of data justice in their respective fields.

The retreat was held in the Blue Mountains and prioritised quiet writing time. As the accommodation had no Wi-Fi and limited phone reception, it was a perfect opportunity to disconnect from emails and focus on writing! Researchers were able to share writing tips and strategies, as well as commiserate over struggles.

Not only did the researchers make significant progress on journal articles, PhD chapters and conference paper proposals over the days of the retreat, they were also able to connect with one another and discuss shared research interest and potential future collaborations. The writing retreat was a great success and may run again in the future.

Congratulations to Data Justice Research Stream member Rachel Rowe, and Co Leads Danielle Hynes and Bronwyn Miller of the Data Justice Research Stream on the wonderful outcomes from their recent writing retreat.
