Submission: Inquiry into Draft Critical Infrastructure Asset Definition Rules
Fri 14 May 2021
The Hub, together with the Australian Society for Computers and Law and the UNSW Institute for Cyber Security, has made a submission to the Department of Home Affairs regarding the Inquiry into Draft Critical Infrastructure Asset and Definition Rules.
A pdf copy of the submission is here. Further information and background to the submission can be found here.
The submission focuses on two issues:
- The scope of what constitutes a critical infrastructure asset should be narrowed to ensure proportionality with respect to the grant of government powers contemplated by the Bill.
- In deciding what is a critical infrastructure asset, it is important to understand network interactions; dependencies are relevant in determining which components are critical.
