European AI Regulations with Chris Marsden

We love to celebrate the work of our Hub Members and fellow UNSW research centres!

Professor Chris Marsden from Monash University visited UNSW to discuss issues associated with the proposed artificial intelligence regulation in the European Union, for the Artificial Intelligence Law and Regulation: A European perspective event organised by UNSW AI Institute and Hub Member Rob Nicholls.

The proposed regulation is confusingly called the AI Act. In his talk Professor Marsden argued that the regulation should be considered as a deregulatory step. He gave academic presentations on UNSW campus, followed by a special visit to Allens to discuss these issues.

We would like to pass on our thanks to Amy Riley of Allens for facilitating this interesting and engaging session where more than 40 people from Allens were in attendance.
