Submission: New and Emerging Digital Technologies and Human Rights

This submission to the Human Rights Council Advisory Committee made some broad observations about emerging digital technologies and human rights, including in relation to terminology and scoping. It specifically looked at the enabling role of technology (for example in relation to Bassina Farbenblum and coauthors’ work on technologies for migrant workers and the positive impact of the internet) as well as challenges around mass surveillance, digital censorship, and the power of private actors in the context of freedom of expression and other rights.
