Hub supports launch of Australian Society for Computers and Law

The Hub recently supported the launch of the newly formed Australian Society for Computers and Law (AUSCL).  The AUSCL brings together the former state based societies, and aims to be one of Australia’s leading interdisciplinary think-tanks on issues arising at the intersection of technology, law and society. AUSCL is a member of the International Federation of Computer Law Associations.

AUSCL was official declared launched by its patron the Hon Justice Michael Kirby and he was joined with many distinguished guests, including the Director General of WIPO Francis Gurry, Professor Jeannie Paterson from Melbourne Law School, and the co-founders of the Victorian and NSW Socities Julian Burnside QC and our hub member Professor Graham Greenleaf. If you would like to see a recording of the launch it is available here.

The AUSCL is a registered Australian non-profit charity with a charter to advance education and advocacy.  It provides a lively forum for debate and is committed to providing informed and balanced information on issues of critical importance. Members include, legal and technology professionals, business leaders, government officials, academics and members of the bar and retired members of the judiciary.  The AUSCL’s mission is to Inspire new thinking, Reconnect professionals across disciplines and together reimagine the future.
